About

ABOUT US

Our story began in 2018 with a brave move from beachy, Charleston, South Carolina to snowy, Park City, Utah. It did not take long for us to see what living in a small ski town was all about & we decided to stay. Our chocolate labs have helped us welcome four children since 2018 and life has been nothing short of an adventure for us! Recently we decided to add honeybees to our our family because why not? We designed and built an apiary with too many flowering plants to count and added two beehives, Sweet Caroline and Ella Day. We have enjoyed our beekeeping journey so far and are excited to share our experience with ya'll!

Designing our Apiary

Where to begin in planning the apiary? This was a large project for us but was essential for the health and happiness of our honeybees.

Waggle Words & More

The behavior of honeybees has always been fascinating to me and a lot of effort is spent on researching bee behavior. Here I'll discuss some common behaviors and some unique behaviors of honeybees.

OUR HONEY

Honey from our honeybees will not be available for the first two seasons we have our girls. Honeybees in the mountain west require a lot of honey to be left in the hive to overwinter and survive during the cold months of November through April. We are talking about 80-100 pounds of stored honey! For this reason, we will not be harvesting honey from any of our hives for the first two seasons, at least. We do hope you understand and support the best practice in maintaining our strong honeybee population in our apiary.
